Understanding Planned Charge Association Options

In this video, we explore the different options available in Planned Charge Association within Chargebee. These options determine when a customer is charged based on various subscription events.

1. On Subscription Creation

This option charges the customer when a new subscription is created in Chargebee. Even if the subscription is set to start in the future, the charge is applied on the day the subscription is created.

2. On Subscription Trial Start

When this option is selected, the charge is applied at the start of the trial period for the customer. This is useful if you want to charge a fee for the trial period. The charge can be set as recurring or one-time, based on the event.

3. Plan Activation

This option covers all cases under Subscription Activation, including when a subscription undergoes a plan change. For example, if a subscription plan changes from A to B, the charge is immediately applied. If the plan is switched back to A, the charge is only applied if the "Apply Charges" option is set to "Every time this event occurs" in the Details page for plan A.

4. On Subscription Activation

With this option, the charge is applied when the subscription status becomes active, including during reactivations. To include charges during subscription reactivations, choose the "Apply Charges" option "Every time this event occurs."
